History of the Company
Established in 1952 by Cecil Thompson, Thompsons started life as a courier business after the war. It wasn’t long before a bus had been bought to transport local people on day trips in and around the Framlingham area.
Cecil's daughter and son-in-law Michael and Doramy Rogers joined the company in 1976 and 1986 respectively, the latter after Cecil passed away the same year. Soon after Stuart (Michael and Doramy’s son) also came onboard straight from school and passed his coach test at 18.
In 2006 Michael sadly passed away after a short battle with Leukaemia after which Doramy stepped down, leaving Stuart in charge at 36. In 2008 Robert Rogers (Stuart’s eldest son) joined the firm passing his minibus test. The next year he passed his coach test and is now the company Transport Manager, holding the CPC. A few years later in 2012 James Rogers (Stuart’s youngest son) passed his coach test and became an apprentice in the workshop.
Currently Stuart, Robert and James (now our main mechanic and workshop manager) run the business together with Julie (Stuart's sister), Wendy (Stuart’s wife), full and part time drivers.
